How many days El Calafate and El Chaltén?
Are you thinking about traveling to Patagonia and sorting out your timeline? Let me help you with the big question, how many days El Calafate and El Chaltén. You will find it out in this blog!
Based on our experience, we advise you to take at least 8 days to travel here, and divide those days over the 2 locations. You will start this trip in El Calafate since the airport is located there. From our opinion it is the best to first stay 2 days in El Calafate, so you have time to explorer the city and book a trip to the Perito Moreno. In these days you also have time to organize your trip to El Chaltén. El Chaltén is more than 200 kilometers away from El Calafate and don't expect a European highway. El Chaltén is a little mountain village and a real hikers paradise. Because there a a lot of different trekking routes, which you can easily explorer yourself, I advice you to spent a couple of days here. My favorite route is the Laguna de Los Tres to the famous mountain Fitz Roy, but keep in mind you need a good physical condition for this one. When you are back in El Calafate you probably need some time to recover from all the beautiful hiking's but I do recommend you to plan an activity such as zipline, kitesurfing, visit an estancia or do another excursion and enjoy the big variety of restaurants here.
